There’s a little life in death, the way funerals bring people together to rack their brains for every memory, springing up like dandelions. 

There’s a little death in life, the way you can’t go twenty-four hours without things falling apart, at least a little.

There’s a little hope in failure, a release of expectation that makes room for something new.

There’s a little failure in success, the ever-forboding feeling of “well, is that it?”

There’s a little heartache in love, the constant question of if you’re giving up too much of yourself to be with someone.

There’s a little love in heartache, the silver lining of the knife-blade, reminding you you’re still at it. 

There’s a little night in day and a little day in night. 

A little theft in trust and a little trust in stealing. 

There’s a little faith in destruction and a little believing in tearing down.

Maybe more of these things than we want to think.
