compromising your standards
Morning Reading for August 4
The traditional wisdom is that trust is hard to build and easy to lose. The same is said for moral standards and reputation.
This is true, but only from the perspective of others. People who have to take you at your actions and not your thoughts.
This isn’t advice to go and break a lot of trust, but taken solely from your head, you’re allowed to experiment. You’re allowed to try things a different way. Not the self violence of doing something you hate, but the ability to try on other ways of doing things as if they were hats. You can try being a little more forgiving. Or being a little more disciplined.
The nice thing is that if you don’t like it, you can go right back to the way things were before. No one has to know. And if they do, well, that’s their problem to figure out.
Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
