this roundabout project

Morning Reading for August 7

Life is entirely non efficient, at least from the standpoint of the people living it. Things don’t work without plans but almost no plans work as planned. We spend our time running around like hamsters who can’t find their wheel, having misplaced it somewhere, or looking for the part to get it back to optimal treadmill performance.

In the brief moments of peace, the still, quiet, calm eyes of the storm, we might reflect on what a muck life is. How roundabout everything seems to go. The funny, funky ways people live out their days and find each other.

We might also think: well, death is the ultimate efficiency. The complete lack of wasted movement. Which makes you wonder whether life is inefficient, or if inefficiency is closer to actually being the definition of life.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
