supercars

Morning Reading for August 23

Ferraris spend more time in the shop than Camrys do. This is neither an insult to Ferraris nor a compliment to Camrys. It’s a factual observation that both Ferrari owners and Camry owners accept as a nonemotional reality.

No one buys a supercar expecting it to get great mileage or thinking they’ll drive it for three hundred thousand miles. No one buys a Camry expecting to turn any heads with their driving.

The higher the level of performance you expect, the more time, energy, and money you’re going to have to spend maintaining it. This is as true for cars as it is for people.

You’re allowed to expect Ferrari levels of performance from yourself, just don’t be surprised when you get the bill.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day. No one asked us if we were interested in existing. No one gave us the opportunity to decide where we were born, to which parents, to how many siblings, in what country. No one let us vote on the color of our eyes, the size of our feet, which knee would pop and crackle more readily.

We’re all stuck living in light of a lot of facts we didn’t choose, trying to accept reality on its own terms—terms it has yet to reveal to any of us fully.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
