Morning Reading for August 27

No one wants to get scammed. To not see it coming. To have their generosity and goodwill turned into someone else’s opportunity.

But maybe in the grand scheme of things, we could look at the times people take advantage of us as part of an act of generosity towards the people who don’t—not letting the bad apples of the world ruin the good ones. Being vulnerable not out of naivety, but out of choice—the knowledge that being open to helping others comes with a cost, a cost we’re willing to pay.
