Crack Some Eggs

May 20

You have to crack some eggs to make an omelet.

This is true, both metaphorically and literally. There’s some things in life that require a level of conflict that not everyone will enjoy. You may have to gear up, dig deep, and crack a couple of eggs to get anything done.

Plus an omelet without a cracked egg is just a hard-boiled half-truth.

Then again, if you’re trying to raise chickens, you may not be interested in making eggs in general. Just in keeping them. Without any omelet-makers coming around to do any cracking.

This is not to say omelets don’t exist. Or that they’re not delicious.

But by nature of this analogy, how often do we crack eggs because we need an omelet, or make omelets because we accidentally cracked eggs? Do we count the cost of our conflict as a painful necessity? Or did we just do what we wanted with an ear towards justifying the means?
