The Heart
July 15
The cliche statement goes that the artist works diligently to paint lines around an empty space—working their ass off, painting lines to draw our eye to the emptiness that wasn’t there.
It’s the kind of thought we only find time to think in the long, drawn-out afternoons when our never-ending to-do lists fade and we found ourselves waiting for something, anything to happen.
Maybe boredom and emptiness are the canvas, an empty place waiting and ready for anything?
Or maybe boredom is the negative space that gives the picture definition?
Morning Reading is a daily email to help center yourself, reflect, and prepare for the day. It’s sent with love from your friend, Zach in Austin, Texas. He even drew the logo himself.
