imagine yourself with gray hair

Morning Reading for February 2

When you think of yourself—

With the radiant glow of kindness, like a halo, highlighting the best parts without denying the worst—

Think of yourself with gray hair.

Think of yourself as having reasonably made it. Not in a supercar, not in a mansion, but old, alive, and despite everything, still smiling.

Stroke the skin on your face and imagine it wrinkled. Pocked and marked and occasionally, scarred with the detritus of a life well lived.

And now think: you have years to earn that image. You must conduct yourself in a manner that you’ll get there. You must care for your body, your mind, and your spirit so that you can be a benefit to us all, you and your beautiful gray hair, your beautiful smile, maybe not so full of teeth, but still full of love.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
