innovation

Morning Reading for February 6

Innovation is at the core of most things that improve society.

There’s a way everyone did something, and then someone comes up with a better way.

The problem is that while all advancements are innovative, almost all innovations are not advancements.

Driving on the wrong side of the road is innovation. Or take it a step further and avoid driving on roads period—pop the curb and drive on the sidewalk. Take it two steps further and do it all in reverse.

If there is a lesson here, it’s probably something like this: seek out your new ways of doing things, but for the sake of the rest of us, don’t try to innovate everything.

Even Steve Jobs (allegedly) brushed his teeth with a toothbrush.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
