Morning Reading for February 9
The nice thing about dreams is, unlike cake, you can have them and pursue them, too.
And the nice thing about pursing your dreams—in small, diligent ways, or big, manic swings—is you’ll find yourself changing.
A little stronger, a little smarter, a little more resilient.
And yes, the company might fail. The album might flop. A thousand agents in a thousand cubicles will write you a thousand near-identical templated emails thanking you for submitting your manuscript and inviting you to huck it in the nearest volcano.
But you’ll find on the other side, you kept all the little advancements, compounding into something bigger, a you that isn’t quite a new you, but isn’t quite the old you.
Still dreaming. Without the dream in hand. But the improvement of following those dreams paying out anyway, like some kind of insurance policy against failure.
Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
