Morning Reading for February 11

Have you ever written or said a word so many times you begin to lose track of whether it’s a real word?

Try it: February. February. February. February. Take it around the block enough times and you’ll find yourself staring at the little gap between the u and the a, wondering what’s missing, wondering if you’ve stuffed a few too many R’s in there for it’s own good.

This is a curious short circuit of our brains, one that appears to have no immediate use.

So perhaps you could find yourself repeating a word until it runs out of purpose, runs out of meaning—a word like failure, perhaps, or cheesily, “impossible”, or a whole phrase, “good for nothing” or “I can’t do that”.

Losing all meaning after just a few short seconds.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
