Goose Chase

October 7

Imagine, for a moment, a goose walking around a small circle of people, placing its right wing into the shaking hands of close friends, asking about the kids, how are you, wonderful weather we’re having.

With a sigh the goose checks their watch and, clearing its beak, announces loudly that the time has come, and could you get to your places, please.

At the starting line, the goose works webbed feet into custom fit Nikes, expertly flipping the laces with its beak.

It’s hard to imagine a civilized goose chase. Even harder to use one as an analogy.

Maybe we could all agree to just call it a goose chase? Or at the very least, not get involved with one unless we’re willing for it to be wild.
