Ides and Idles

March 15

You know the odd thing about the Ides of March?

We all know to beware them, burned into our memory somewhere in the back of a class on Plutarch or Shakespeare.

Something about fate and prophecy, people getting what they deserve in the end, don’t be too much of an egotist. At least that’s what we wrote in the paper to get a passing grade.

The odd thing is that, in all likelihood, some of you who knew to beware the Ides of March didn’t realize until you opened this email that today is the Ides of March.

So unless you have major river-crossing plans or are planning on visiting 60 of your closest senator friends, you’ll probably be fine.

Isn’t it strange? To know you’re supposed to beware something without actually knowing what it is?

Morning Reading is a daily email to help center yourself, reflect, and prepare for the day. It’s sent with love from your friend, Zach in Austin, Texas. He even drew the logo himself.
