Impossible

January 9

If our minds were like a library—

Verbs, nouns, adjectives, all sorted according to type, filed away alphabetically, in neat, long rows—

There would be a section in the back marked forbidden, and if you were to duck under the red rope, avoiding the glares from the librarian, you would walk back to see a glass box labeled, “in case of emergency.”

There’d be a section for two keys, nuclear bomb style, and a comically large red button—this is your brain, after all—which would give you access to a clean, silver brief case.

And if you dared to open it, you would find just one word tucked away, a word you’ve learned to use with great caution, only in the direst of circumstances.

Is this how the mind actually works? No.

But it’s not impossible.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.

Morning Reading is a daily email to help center yourself, reflect, and prepare for the day. It’s sent with love from your friend, Zach in Austin, Texas. He even drew the logo himself.
