catch and release

Morning Reading for January 25th

In Meditations, Marcus Aurelius writes; “keep the spirit inside you undamaged, as if you might have to give it back at any moment.”

As if you might have to pull up the gift receipt and check the return policy.

As if someone else might pick up your spirit, used, refurbished, and look around to see if the previous owner kept up with the oil changes.

As if a state inspector might come out and look for the scuffed up doors, holes in the drywall, check to see the last time someone cleaned out the fridge.

As if the way you treated yourself directly impacted everyone else.

So if you can’t find the strength to take care of yourself for your own sake, can you find the strength to do it for the rest of us?

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
