the wind in your sails

Morning Reading for January 29

The wind may be filling your sails, sending you flying over the water, but across the way, someone is having a lousy time trying to set up a tent, yelling in frustration as the whole thing goes flying again.

Compound that for network effects and things get stranger: that wind in your sails might spin up a couple of its gales and cause some havoc down the coast, storm force winds tearing at roofs.

This may cause some consternation, but remember: despite your sails, despite the consequences, you don’t control the wind. No amount of voting will change for one second which way it blows or how strong for how long.

So hoist your sails, and when the winds find it right to bless you with their presence, you can give thanks—no matter the other consequences.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
