The Joneses are Jonesing for whatever is left—the last of’s, one of one’s, and anything exclusive enough to keep the other Joneses at bay.

The Joneses are jonesing for mass market validation. First, last, or right on time, the thought of any cultural moment passing them by without opportunity to buy in scares them straight out of their Jonesness.

Mostly, the Joneses are jonesing for anyone to keep up with, an audience that makes all the jonesing worth it, someone to distract them from the horrible question, “what would you want if no one ever saw what you had?”
