your harmony is mine

Morning Reading for July 22

The words of Marcus Aurelius, Roman emperor:

“To the world, Your harmony is mine. Whatever time you choose is the right time. Not late, not early.”

Harmony. In tune with something else—not singing the main line, but finding a melody that is as different as it is complimentary.

Whatever time you choose—Trust. Humility. Deference to nature not only on the subject of power, but of wisdom. Even if we could shift nature in one direction for one second, we wouldn’t.

The right time. In agreement. Awaiting something we both want. Harmonizing along the way.

Beautiful words for an emperor to extend towards the world—

Words we could extend towards the world, too.

Maybe even words we could extend to each other?

Harmony not only with what is, but with when it is, too.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
