June 17 | But It’s Nicer Here

So often in life it’s nicer there. In someone else’s house, in someone’s fancier car, in the arms of a hotter person or at the table of a better chef. We may get carried away in the fantasies, or write them down as goals, always keenly aware of the ways in which our world could be just a little better.

Then there’s times when it’s nicer here. Under the warm blankets, in denial that the sun has already risen. Or in the cool, dark of the backstage where no light can see the slight tremor in your hand. Or outside the door of the performance review, where you’ve got to break the bad news to someone else…

Either way, it’s nicer somewhere else.
