When the laundry comes due, the sink is full of dishes, and you realize you’re never more than 24 hours away from having to make the bed, you may find yourself overwhelmed with the constant pressure of just keeping up.
But if you think about it from the perspective of your bed—a very comfortable perspective, you could add—you might see it less a constant chore and more as a simple act of love. Cleaning the dishes for no reason other than that you love your dishes and want to use them again. Doing the laundry, not because of the stink, but out of a wholehearted embrace of your wardrobe. And folding each end of the sheet in sheer anticipation of slipping under them again.
Not out of any sense of “having-to”, but as a simple act of love for your life—after all, what else would you fill the time and space with?… Read the rest
