the most important thing you write

Morning Reading for June 26

The most important thing you write may be a best seller.

It may be an epic 2700 page history or a collection of poems.

It may be prosy and wild, channeling deep emotion or simple, to the point, truthful in a blue-collar way.

It could be read by millions. It could be a blog post read by three people. It could be an email to a loved one or an email to a stranger or a single line of encouragement written for no one’s eyes but yours.

Whether it’s writing, art, work, any creative act—none of us know which is going to be the most important one.

So we’ve got to write them all. Write them all as if they all might be the most important thing.

Because they actually might.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
