the level field

Morning Reading for June 30

In the game of chess both players start with the same pieces. They start with them in the same position, with the same number of open squares on each side of the board. An almost perfectly level field.

Life offers us no such luxury. Hits us with the full force of randomness, can often operate like a game no one would play, much less buy, where the winners keep on winning and the losers don’t even stand a chance.

The winners often have an interest in keeping it this way. Because in the short term, what could be more important than winning?

Life only offers an even playing field in two places:

First, in games. And second, where we level it.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
