The Kids Are Always Watching

January 7

You didn’t understand the adult world as a child.

But that’s not to say you didn’t understand some parts of it. Didn’t understand things no one thought you did. Didn’t recognize things even the adults missed.

You might, like the adults you grew up with, think that you’re in control of what other people see. In charge of how everyone perceives you and your work. Able to spin your own story.

But the kids are just as smart today as they were then. And they’re always watching us—in tune not just to what we show, but what we don’t, the tiny bits of truth sticking their way through any narrative.

Able to see the good, the bad, the ugly, the true—what will they find? Will we give them a good show?

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.

Morning Reading is a daily email to help center yourself, reflect, and prepare for the day. It’s sent with love from your friend, Zach in Austin, Texas. He even drew the logo himself.
