You’ve got to play the ball as it lies. 

No matter how often the ball takes the stand, swearing to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me golf gods—

No matter how many breathes you spend cursing the precise location the ball has chosen to make its home—

You’re still stuck, like the rest of us mortals, completely seperate from the pre standing conditions, required to interact with reality simply as it is.
