Lumpy
August 12
If you go to the trouble of describing everything, you’re functionally also describing nothing.
No limitations. No oppositions. Nothing defined in light of nothing else. Not to ramble too philosophically on a Saturday morning—just to say that, for all intents and purposes, you’re allowed to think of the universe in literally any way you like.
You can make it an analogy—an everything bagel, a black-tie soiree, a video game to progress through, an endless adventure, some kind of great elephant that no longer has a tail.
Or you can just choose an adjective, call the project of existence good, or bad, or doomed, a fixer-upper of a universe just waiting for the right person to conceptualize it.
Maybe today all of existence is just a little lumpy—loveable, if occasionally misshapen.
After all, it’s your thoughts—which means it’s your call.
Morning Reading is a daily email to help center yourself, reflect, and prepare for the day. It’s sent with love from your friend, Zach in Austin, Texas. He even drew the logo himself.
