March 4 | Glass Half
The glass is half full and half empty at the same time.
This is usually commentary on optimism vs pessimism, a way of seeing things as being more full.
Of course, a full glass is ideal if you’re trying to get a good drink, or save some water for the future. It means more of your chosen liquid is in hand.
But an empty glass is a whole lot more useful if you’ve got a beverage to collect. Or want a convenient place to hold pens, need to listen to a conversation behind a closed door, or want to try your hand at water coloring.
An empty glass could make a tiny terrarium for a new plant, become an improvised scoop, or help (safely) hold a bee captive who has bumbled into your home.
So maybe the point of the glass being half full and half empty isn’t optimism, it’s an acknowledgement that things that are empty bear just as much potential as things that are full?
