optimizing for knowledge

Morning Reading for May 29

Patience isn’t very efficient. Quite the opposite in most cases.

So if you want to build an efficient solution, something that does things quickly, then you’ll probably want to look someplace besides patience.

But taken in a scheme grander than this present moment, patience begins to show other upsides. You’ll take longer, but you’ll have more time to pay attention. And be less likely to move on from something important too quickly.

Most of all, you’ll be increasing your surface area. Giving even more opportunities for your brain to see a solution, pick up a detail, finding something that could be useful later.

Because in the long wrong, knowledge is the most efficient thing of all. Especially the knowledge you don’t think you need yet, which can only be obtained through patience.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
