Final Exam

Morning Reading for October 22

Your next performance review?

The next song you release? The next internal meeting? The next time you hit ‘send’ or ‘publish’ or ‘share’?

It’s just the next time.

The feedback comes—good, bad, or worse, nonexistent—and our brains are hardwired to take it at 1,000 miles an hour, amplifying whatever comes through, holding onto it for dear life.

But we don’t have to. We can just think: this is a test. It’s one of many. We’d like to do well on it, yes, but if we don’t, there’s always another test—and if there’s not, well, then there’s always another class, always another semester, always another school.

This one doesn’t have to be the final exam on your self worth.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
