One Better

October 26

When Bayer, the company that invented aspirin, released heroin in the early 1900s, they gave away free samples. Decades of research, effort, testing, innovation, all leading to a moment of genuine excitement.

Can you imagine the week before launch? The giddy feeling around the company? That you’d done it again, done it better than before? Explaining to your spouse and kids exactly what you brought into the world?

Bayer stopped making heroin in 1913. They still make aspirin to this day.

Is there a lesson here? If so, what is it?
