Please Do Not Understand This

June 7

Emerson wrote that “poets utter great and wise things which they do not understand”.

Well, friend, here is neither greatness nor wisdom. On those two counts this letter is bankrupt.

But still, these words are not understood. At least that much Emerson can have.

So if we have little control over the greatness and the wisdom, and find ourselves yet misunderstanding ourselves, maybe the only thing left is the human one?

To get up and, poets or not, go about our utterings?

Morning Reading is a daily email to help center yourself, reflect, and prepare for the day. It’s sent with love from your friend, Zach in Austin, Texas. He even drew the logo himself.
