Potential Energy
August 21
Life has a way of drawing our attention to energy presently in action: the big, the bold, the obvious, the company being acquired, the headling tour, the person running down the street shirtless screaming the star spangled banner with impossible gusto, always drawing our eye, our ears, our hearts.
These kind of epic moments are hard to create—most of us can only drag a few of them into being over a period of time, drawing them out from the soul with all the strength we can muster.
Of course, the potential energy is all around us, waiting, building or declining, rising up to the occasion or falling back into the milieu.
Maybe we could divert just a little bit of our energy from what is to what could be—focusing today on reducing the potential energy of negative situations, setting our foundations a little straighter, or building the potential energy of something until—a day, a week, a month, a decade later—the dominoes fall, something goes from potential to inevitable, and only you will know why.
Morning Reading is a daily email to help center yourself, reflect, and prepare for the day. It’s sent with love from your friend, Zach in Austin, Texas. He even drew the logo himself.
