On Purpose
August 6
Deep down, at the end of the day, we don’t just want a hundred million dollars. We don’t just want our own version of the nicest imaginable car, or a mansion, or the smug, better-than-thou knowledge we’ve made all the money in the world and didn’t spend a dime on anything frivolous.
The universe could show up tomorrow with a blank check (and an impossibly nice pen) and the reality is, most of us would only accept it begrudgingly. Because we don’t just want the very best of everything, we want to deserve it, too.
We want to feel the eyes blazing holes in the back of our heads and know that even our enemies acknowledge we earned it. That there was no other way things could have gone. That despite the circumstances—not because of luck—we made all of our success as strict acts of intention.
Which means when it comes to our dreams, we’re all addicts of the same vice—hooked on a drug called purpose.
Morning Reading is a daily email to help center yourself, reflect, and prepare for the day. It’s sent with love from your friend, Zach in Austin, Texas. He even drew the logo himself.
