The Rain

January 16

The rain falls on the just and the unjust.

It falls on the judge and the jury, too.

It falls into gutters, it falls onto umbrellas, it falls on the moon roofs of cars without so much as the courtesy to check if the owner closed it first.

That’s because rain doesn’t check on anything. It does what it knows how to do, which is to fall without discrimination, and falling everywhere it can, before it falls some more, until it has nothing left.

Because rain, in all its wisdom, has left the whole just and unjust thing for us to worry about.

Thank you—let’s have a great day.
