Season of Optimism

September 2

The strange thing about optimism is that it never gets less optimistic.

You can believe something that is likely to happen will happen, and you’re just as optimistic as the person who believes something almost impossible is borderline certain.

In this regard, optimism is objectively something close to a mental disorder. It simply grows in strength the more times it’s disproved, shrugging off the cold shoulders of reality, still believing the chain has to turn itself around at some point.

It concedes every point, smiles and nods at every disagreeing opinion, laughs at any joke at it’s own expense… And still never changes.

Always just as optimistic as every time before.
