Toxic Self Betterment

Morning Reading for September 22

Every Monday, every new year, every couple of months, depending on our constitutions, we have a habit of kicking down the door of our own lives and asking “who the fuck is in charge around here?”

We flip tables, fire directors, doing forensic accounting on the piss-poor management of our days, our time, our money, our friendships, shaking our heads with a disgusted upper lip.

And then we settle down for a couple of weeks before the future version of ourselves decides to do it again, committing violence against self under the guise of self betterment.

We must learn to remember: if our present self is capable of improving our future self, it’s only courtesy of the work and dedication of our past self.

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
