Being Healthy

Morning Reading for September 23

Do we chase being healthy the same way a dog chases a firetruck?

We do it with diligence, with resilience, with determination that is, for lack of a better word, dogged.

We get after it every day. Wake up from dreams of it to chase it in the real world. Will drop anything and everything when it rolls by, yelling and screaming as we charge after that mythical beast.

And like that poor dog, do we have any idea what we would do if we were healthy? If we finally had it? Or have we made it the pursuit to distract ourselves from our actual work?

Could we think more like a boxer—healing, yes, but just enough to do some un-healing in the form of getting back in the ring, the place we belong?

Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
