Sour Grape Sommelier
January 17
You know, Aesop and all his fables had a certain wisdom to them, but maybe sour grapes get a bad wrap.
Consider: Aesop never had the opportunity to go to 7/11. Never even saw a soda. Never had a parent press five bucks in their hand and turn them loose on the candy aisle of the grocery store.
No, the poor sap had to get all his sugar from grapes, which we now basically esteem as a health food.
It’s only the grapes we can’t reach that still drive us on—tantalizingly out of touch, always just beyond, tickling our minds as we fall asleep, wetting our palette as we wake up in the morning…
Thank you, sour grapes.
Let’s have a great day.
