You can read the oldest books written in the least-decipherable language, slogging your way through every footnote.

You can hire the best shrinks. Take the best meds. Track your macros with the loving discipline of a first-time parent way too invested in the wrong details.

You can kneel at every altar in every holy place, casting yourself on the wisdom of the past or the hope of the future with faith to move mountains.

And still, you would yourself the common denominator of all of it—maybe the one sending it all sideways?

Or maybe you still contain all the desire to change, still rooted deeply and firmly within some part of you, completely capable in and of itself?
