Telling It Like It Is

September 16

They’re not trying to be mean, they’re just telling it like it is.

Telling it like it is in their head. With all the benefit of their context, education, upbringing, and perspective.

Telling it like it is as they understand it now, without remembering all the time before it clicked, when someone else had to keep repeating themselves, explaining it in so many different ways.

Telling it like it is without necessarily accounting for all the things it is, the complete sum of factual and emotional information that is easy to miss.

Telling it like it is as if it has no say in the matter, as if the almighty father somehow forgot to teach truth any manners, truth that is now only served with a side of assholery.

So here’s telling it like it is:

If the truth is so obvious that it lacks any nuance for the state of it’s audience, then that truth is so obvious it probably doesn’t need you to do the telling.

Morning Reading is a daily email to help center yourself, reflect, and prepare for the day. It’s sent with love from your friend, Zach in Austin, Texas. He even drew the logo himself.
