Treasonous Crabs
January 20
In his book “The War of Art”, Steven Pressfield writes, “the highest treason a crab can commit is to make a leap for the rim of the bucket.”
It’s worth knowing that Steven Pressfield has no actual expertise on the subject of crab law and has not studied to become a crab lawyer.
But he’s regrettably correct in his assertion: when the conditions are bad for everyone, the target is often the person who is brave enough to get help.
It’s easy to imagine ourselves in the drivers seat of that sentence—that we’re the crab willing to commit treason, the person with enough courage to try to escape.
But maybe it’s the kind of wisdom we should tuck away for the next time we’re on crab jury duty, double checking the anger that arises when we watch someone challenge the status quo.
Even if—especially if—they fail.
Thank you. Let’s have a great day.
