Turning Over a New Leaf
September 10
One could rightfully ask:
What was so wrong with the old leaves?
Did the tree forget the right mix of chlorophyll? Or are they running some kind of millenia-long experiment on the precise number of needles to place on either side of each branch?
Will there be a day they finally get it right? Turn over a new leaf on the subject of turning over new leaves and finally just let their branches be? Or will their perfectionism get the best of them, trying over and over to find the perfect one—without succeeding?
Maybe that’s the nature of trees, maybe it’s the nature of leaves—maybe it’s the nature of living things, to always seek out something new, even in the things we know most intimately.
