Wake Up Clean, Come Home Early

May 21

There is work to be done: work of all sorts. Moments and situations requiring all manor of self-stretching.

You’ll need dignity, patience, forbearance, and a whole lot of old-fashioned elbow grease.

Sure, you might start the day checking the clock, but at some point in time it will fade—hours dropping into an ocean of concentration, bringing things into existence where once there was nothing.

Then the day ends. You catch the dying light, or realize you’re alone, and now the task is to let it all go. Wash—or scrub—the detritus from your mind, the mire, the conflict, the unknown and necessary friction. Too much to carry with you for even a day, much less days, much less weeks.

Until tomorrow, you do the same thing.

Wake up clean, go to bed early.

Morning Reading is a daily email to help center yourself, reflect, and prepare for the day. It’s sent with love from your friend, Zach in Austin, Texas. He even drew the logo himself.
