What’s at Stake

October 18

What’s at stake today may be your own future: what happens from here, where you live, what you do, who you do it with, precisely how expensive the shoes within which you do, well, everything.

What’s at stake today may be your past: after all, is there a moment where you’ll remember more than right now? Will the bucket of your brain suddenly become less leaky?

What’s at stake today may be your present. How you feel, what it means, whether you enjoy the existence you have to exist in regardless.

That may be all at stake.

But what’s also at stake is other people’s pasts. How they will remember you. Remembered now for what you did that they saw and experienced, but possibly also for what they never saw, revealed only later, how they choose to remember you—and all of us.

How will it go? How should it go?

Morning Reading is a daily email to help center yourself, reflect, and prepare for the day. It’s sent with love from your friend, Zach in Austin, Texas. He even drew the logo himself.
